Introduction to Start Your Own Ministry

Why Start Your Own Ministry?

Welcome to Start Your Own Ministry. This video is an introduction to the course that we are about to offer to help you start your own ministry. But before we even look at that, the first question you need to answer is, why should you start your own ministry?

Well, there’s one very important thing that comes first. Before you get to the place where you are ready to start your own ministry. It’s the D word, Discontentment. It means you’re discontented or you are unhappy. Unhappy with what?

Well, with the ministry that you’re in already. With the church that you’re in and with whatever spiritual life you have at the moment. Until you become discontented and unhappy with the way things are in the Body of Christ. You won’t even think about starting your own ministry.

Why should you? Other people have already started ministries. And you’re going to fit into their ministry. So, if you have not yet come to the place of being discontented. With your spiritual life and your church situation. Then, you are not going to benefit much from what I’m going to share.

Because you’re going to carry on settling down in your little church. You will carry on, doing nothing the way you have been for years and years. And never rise up and fulfill the calling that God has placed on your life.

Reaching Discontentment

So, to help you along with this, I’ve actually put up the first video in my series, Seven Steps to the New Church. And step number one of that is called Discontentment. There, I’ll share with you some of my own personal experiences with the church system.

Probably, you wouldn’t even have gone as far as I did with the church system.  Because I worked my way all the way up from nothing to being in full-time ministry in the church ministry system.

So, I wasn’t just an ordinary church member hoping I may get a chance to have a ministry.  But even though I actually had an opportunity to go into the ministry with the system.  It still did not give me the liberty to fulfill the call that God had placed in my life.

And I dare say that if God has really called you to ministry. The chances are wherever you are right now, whatever you have been involved in has limited you.  And restricted you from fulfilling the call of God on your life.

Now, if you’ve come to the place of being discontented and you’re fed up with the situation.  And you said, that’s it, I’m not going to be part of that anymore, I need to get out. Well, then, you’re probably ready to listen to this series of teachings I’m going to give.

Where Are You At?

Chances are you stopped going to the church meetings where you were.  You stopped being part of the local church where you were involved.  And everybody all around you is thinking that you have backslidden.  Everybody’s praying that you will come back to God.

But actually, something else is burning in you. You got frustrated because God had given you something more.  And you could see that they weren’t doing the same thing in the church. And they weren’t giving you an opportunity to do it, either.

So you’re probably not going to church on Sunday anymore. You’re probably staying at home. And the first danger of that is that you’re probably not getting any spiritual input anymore. You’re not getting any spiritual food.  Unless you are going onto the internet, watching preachers on TV, or getting some kind of input.

But do you know where you get your greatest spiritual input? It is when you get something from God to give to the people. The greatest blessing is not to go and be blessed by somebody else’s ministry.

But the greatest blessing is when you can take what God has given you and pour it out to others and minister to them. If you are called by God, that is where your greatest spiritual boost is going to come.

And so you’re sitting here at home dying for an opportunity to get out there.  To minister and to do what God has called you to do. If you’ve got a family, the chances are they are suffering. Your kids are not getting fellowship anymore and not meeting other Christian kids. Your wife is not getting to meet other Christian women.

Perhaps in the church, you at least had some friends.  And now that you’ve left the church, they’ve been told to disassociate themselves from you.  Because you are now rebellious and no longer part of the church. And so you’re sitting here at home. No more social life. No more spiritual life, no more anything.

Some Good News

Are you in that situation? If you are, I’ve got good news for you. What I’m about to offer you is going to be like a breath of fresh air to help you break out of that situation. You’re now in a situation where you are ready to start your own ministry.  But the big question is, where do you start?

Perhaps you have tried something already and failed. You’re afraid to try it again in case it fails again. So, in your mind, you’re toying with the idea of either just giving up serving the Lord altogether.  Or just going back and settling back into that old status quo church system that irritates you.  And you know, it’s just never, ever going to give you much opportunity.

Perhaps you’re afraid of messing up. You think, well, I’d like to start my own thing.  But who am I?  I’m not qualified and able to get in there and be a preacher and do the ministry. And even if you do feel that you, you’re afraid.  That if you did give it a try, the whole thing might just collapse around about you.

Are You Qualified?

And so you’re afraid even to start in case you mess up. Perhaps you think, Well, you know, I really would love to work for the Lord, and I would really love to minister to people. I would love to pray for people to preach the word.  And do all the things that go with the ministry. But I don’t know if I’m really qualified or capable of doing this.

After all, in your church, you were never really given a chance to do it, were you? If you’re lucky, you were given the opportunity to be an Usher.  To change the transparencies or do some mundane task in the church. Some job that the pastor didn’t feel like doing, and he handed it over to you. That’s the way it is in most churches.

And so you’ve never really been given a chance to say, stand behind the pulpit and preach. So, are you capable of doing it? Well, in your mind, you think you can, and you would love to give it a try.  But you’re not sure if you’re qualified or capable of doing it. And then, finally, you’re probably feeling guilty.

Everybody’s told you that you’re rebellious. You don’t want to submit to authority, you’re selfish, and you just want to do things your own way. You’re in insubordination, and you’re feeling quite guilty about this.  And you’re thinking, yes, maybe I just have a wrong attitude.

Maybe I should just go back and settle down and be a normal, ordinary little Christian.  And drop these silly ideas of rising up in ministry and doing great things for God.

Been There Done That

If any of these situations apply to you, then I’ve got good news for you. We can help you. I’ve been there. I’ve done that. All of the above. I know exactly how you feel. I’ve been exactly in your position many times, and I’ve tried, and I’ve failed, and I’ve faced the system.

Yes, the system of this world, which is in the church, I’ve faced the church system. The church system has disciplined me.  I have had pastors and elders come and tell me that I’m out of order.  And that I need to be brought into line because I’m rebellious.

I’ve been there, I’ve been in all of those. But in the end, I found a better way. I found a better way than what the church system offers.  And I tried everything that the church system offers. And so this is what I’d like to share with you in this free teaching series on how to start your own ministry.

I’d like to share with you some of the principles I learned and that I’ve proved have worked.  And put me in a position where right now, I not only have a ministry, but I’m reaching out to the nations with that ministry. I’m training and raising up members of the five-fold ministry.  Apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors, and teachers at the higher level of ministry.

Before, I was a deacon in the church. My job was to help bring the money in, and that was about it. I think I got up to be a youth leader. Well, eventually, I pushed my way all the way to the top, and that didn’t help much anyway. So, if you’d like to learn more, as I’ve been sharing, you can say, Yes, that’s me. I’ve been there. I need to know where to go from here.

Then, I’d like to offer you the next series. And I’m going to be giving you another four videos that will take you by the hand.  And show you step-by-step how you can start your own ministry. The next video is entitled How to Start Your Ministry From Home. And if you’d like to watch that video, you’ll need to enroll in this course.
